Off duty

Mostly, I’m looking up.

Away from tax, aviation comes first. After that, a lot of reading, some tinkering, and shisha.

Aviation

A deep fascination, never grounded.

Four and a half years in airline finance, at Etihad and Emirates, never wore it off. I still look up every single time.

  • Airline yearsEtihad Airways, 2009 to 2011. Emirates, 2015 to 2018.
  • Spotter’s factThe 777-300ER is longer than the A380, by just over a metre.

The rest of the logbook

Reading, tinkering and shisha.

The rest of the time, in no particular order.

Reading, constantly.

Mostly online, and a fair amount of it on Reddit. It’s how I stay up to date with what’s happening in tax, in tech and in the air.

Experimenting with tech.

I grew up taking computers apart. Now it’s new models, new tools and small builds. Some end up at work: Hysaab began with Oblique’s own team.

Shisha.

Where the long conversations happen, and a few of the better ideas.
